Her teachers say she is very bold and a favourite student who can be assigned with any task which requires extra responsibility and audacity. She is Sunita, an 8th standard student of Guttahalli Higher Primary Government School, Bangalore.
When asked about her dream she quickly came out saying, "I want to be an IPS officer to help uneducated people who are hesitant to go to the police." She has an elder brother and her parents are construction labourers. According to Sunita they don’t have time to prepare food. She looks forward to the mid-day meal provided by Akshaya Patra and enjoys the tasty meal.
Apart from being good at studies and sincere, she is very confident and courageous. She is known amongst her teachers and peers as one who is very straightforward and not scared of any body. Her boldness makes her the centre of attraction. In a daring voice she says, "Why should I hesitate in saying or doing anything when I have not done anything wrong?"
Akshaya Patra encourages and salutes such inherent bravery and supports it to move in the right direction by aiding in providing education. This support will surely take them to the path of achieving their goals. Teachers say that they are proud of Sunita and children like her. But many times these children have to leave their studies for supporting their family or to do household chores. Akshaya Patra‘s support becomes really beneficial in such cases. The one wholesome mid-day meal provided by it shares parents’ burden of arranging a meal for their child and becomes an incentive to keep them in school.
Akshaya Patra serves mid-day meal to 1.3 million school children in 19 centres across 9 states. It not only fills their stomach but also fuels their dreams, where they can freely think and aspire for a bright future guided by their inherent spirit and education.
Support Akshaya Patra so that the blooming spirit of these tiny buds doesn’t wither away.
