A 10th Grade student, he is sure of achieving 85% marks in his fast approaching Public Examination. He has already decided to take up Computer Science for his higher education. He is determined to stand up to his father’s expectations of pursuing a career as a Software Engineer. He is also an avid follower of cricket.

He is Kishore Kumar from Government High School, Sane Guravanahalli, Bangalore. He is a very enthusiastic and fun-loving child. He has many friends in his class and actively takes part in extra-curricular activities. When asked about his favourite sport, he was quick to reply- “Cricket”. He went on to add, “Virat Kohli is my favourite cricketer.” ‘History’ tops his list of favourite subjects. Kishore’s parents work in a factory that manufactures sweet boxes. He has no siblings and is the only son.   

When asked about his ambition, Kishore said, “I want to become a Software Engineer. It is my father’s dream and I want to fulfil it.” Being a student of Grade 10 Kishore is well aware of the goodness of wholesome food. He knows the importance of proteins, vitamins, and other such of nutrients in food. He is very fond of Akshaya Patra meal and says, “The Akshaya Patra meal is rich in nutrients. It helps us to grow and study better. I like all the dishes of the mid-day meal but Bisi-bele bhath remains my all-time favourite.”

The Akshaya Patra Foundation wants to reach more and more such Kishore’s so that many more dreams can get the needed support. The main objective of the Foundation is to provide “unlimited food for education” to needy children in India. Currently, Akshaya Patra is feeding 1.3 million children everyday by reaching out to more than 9,000 Government schools across 9 states of India. This Indian NGO is working towards the hope of creating a future that is educated and free of hunger.
